In 1990, Bassam
Darwishahmad, entered the U.S. and filed a form I485 (petition for permanent
resident alien status) which asked "Have you ever engaged in, conspired to
engage in, or do you intend to engage in, or have you ever solicited membership
or funds for, or have you through any other means ever assisted or provided
funds for, or have you through any other means ever assisted or provided any
type of material support to any person or organization that has ever engaged in
or conspired to engage in sabotage, kidnapping, political assassination,
hijacking or any other form of terrorist activity?"
Intelligence sources determined the Mr. Darwishahmad was, in fact,
an intelligence officer for Hamas. Further investigation determined that he was
responsible for throwing a bomb at an Israeli bus containing civilians and for
throwing Molotov Cocktails at Israeli soldiers prior to his entrance in the US.
In March of 2000, the then President of the Memphis chapter of the
Muslim Student Association wrote a letter
to the editor of the Memphis Commercial Appeal. His letter was in reference
to the investigation of the Holy Land Foundation, which was just starting. In
his letter, the MSA president stated, "Officials of the two charities
mentioned in the article, the Global Relief Foundation and the Holy Land
Foundation, visit us frequently in Memphis. As regular donors, we can firmly
attest that their only mission is to serve war-ravaged and oppressed Muslims
overseas. "
The Holy Land Foundation was later found to be guilty of giving
material support to Hamas. The public declaration by the Memphis Muslim Student
Association would be evidence they were also supplying material support to Hamas
if the HLF had been a designated organization.
Case #3
Rafat Mawlawi, a U.S. citizen with dual citizenship in Syria, lived
in a quiet neighborhood near Craigmont High School in Memphis. Because he had a felony
conviction, he was not supposed to own firearms, but he kept a shotgun and three
loaded handguns in a safe in his home. He also kept a 1997 photograph of himself
shouldering a rocket-powered grenade launcher in Bosnia while standing next to
an associate of Osama bin Laden, $34,000 in cash, and al Mujahadeen videotapes
in Arabic. When federal agents arrested him at his home in April, he lied to
them before admitting he was moving to Syria.
Mawlawi was not charged with terrorism. He was charged with illegal
possession of firearms, immigration violations, and conspiracy to organize a
sham-marriage scam involving Memphis women and Middle Eastern men. The marriage
scam originated in the Shelby County Penal Farm, where Mawlawi led Muslim
prayers for inmates. He was indicted, along with four Middle Eastern men and six
Memphians, for recruiting and paying U.S. citizens to enter into sham marriage
engagements and produce bogus applications for visas to allow foreigners
to illegally enter the country.
Case #4
The construction of the al Rasool Center at 5315 Stage Rd in
Memphis was
financed by the Alavi Foundation. In 2009, the Department of Justice issued
a civil forfeiture complaint against the Alavi Foundation, saying that the
"Alavi
Foundation has been providing numerous services to the Iranian Government,"
including funneling money to Bank Melli, an institution which has been
designated for its role in funding terrorism and nuclear proliferation.
Even though the Memphis al Rasool Center has received major funding
from an agent of the Iranian Government, no action has been taken against al
Rasool Center or its local supporters.
Case #5
Pleasant View School, an Islamic School located at 1888 Bartlett Rd,
Memphis, announced on their web site that Dr. Hamed Ghazali was hired
as "the new consultant for PVS Islamic Studies, Quran & Arabic. Dr.
Ghazali has a Ph.D. in Education from Kansas State University. He is currently
the Director of the Houston Quran Academy, Chairman of MAS Council of Islamic
Schools (MASCIS) and a professor at the Islamic American University. He is also
working as a superintendent/consultant for several Islamic schools in the USA.
Dr. Ghazali is a Hafiz and served as an Imam as well as chaplain for more than
20 years in Kansas and Missouri.
Dr. Ghazali will be introduced to the Memphis Muslim Community on
Friday July 23rd, 2010."
The Muslim American Society (MAS) and the MAS Council of Islamic
Schools are recognized as organizations that are affiliate arms of the Muslim
Brotherhood.
During the Federal investigation of The Holy Land Foundation, a
document was seized when a search warrant was executed on the home of a Muslim
Brotherhood member in Virginia. This document outlined the official strategy of
the Muslim Brotherhood in North America. The document, which is titled,
"The Explanatory
Memorandum of the North American Muslim Brotherhood"
mentions on page 12 that "We have a seed for a "comprehensive Dawa'
educational" organization: We have the Daw'a section in ISNA + Dr.
Jamal Badawi Foundation + the center run by brother Hamed al-Ghazali + the Dawa'
center the Dawa' Committee and brother Shaker al-Sayyed are seeking to establish
now + in addition to other Daw'a efforts here and there...".
Dr. Hamed Ghazali's name also appears in the Muslim
Brotherhood's phone book which was another document that was seized by
Federal agents and used in the Holy Land Foundation trial. This phone book is dated 1992 and contains names of the top tier of the North American Muslim Brotherhood leadership.
In NOV of 2010, PVS announced Dr. Mohamed Abedelrahman Elkadi has joined Pleasant View School this year as the Islamic Studies teacher for grades 5 through 8, and Arabic and Quran for 3rd grade. Sheikh Elkadi is also the Imam of Masjid Al-Noor.
Dr. Mohamed Abedelrahman Elkadi stated in an interview published by Pleasant View School that he received his Ph.D. from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, which has been described as the
institutional headquarters of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood. Al-Azhar University is also notable because the school's Grand Imam, Muhammad Sayyed Tantawi, has issued fatwas advocating violence against America.
Elkadi taught Islamic studies and Arabic at Horizon Academic School in Dallas, TX. From the transcript of an interview on the PVS web site,
"Then,
I lived in different parts of California where I worked as an Imam at King
Fahad Mosque and I taught Hadith at Al-Ilm Institution. Also, I was the Imam of the
Long Beach Islamic Center."
It should be noted that Horizon Academic School is one of many schools associated with the
Fethullah Gulen associated schools.
On April 08, 2012, PVS announced they hired a new Principal. This individual was identified as
Dr. Mohammed Malley who is a third-generation American citizen.
Dr. Malley attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. where he was President of the Muslim Student Association
(MSA) in 1990. The Muslim Student Association was specifically mentioned in the Explanatory Memorandum of the North American
Muslim Brotherhood as an affiliate organization to the Muslim Brotherhood.
After his Georgetown graduation, Dr. Malley relocated to Austin, TX to pursue a graduate degree. While in Austin, he took a leadership position with the
Muslim American Society, Austin Chapter. He is shown as the "principal contact" for this organization on the MANTA web
site. Another site list him as the "registered agent" for the MAS, Austin Chapter as given by the Texas Secretary of State's files.
The Muslim American Society is also an affiliate organization of the
North American Muslim Brotherhood.
The fundraiser that was used to introduce Dr. Malley to the PVS school
supporters featured Kifah Mustapha as a guest speaker. Kifah Mustapha has been a fixture in the Chicago-area Muslim community for years, serving as an imam at the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview. In that role, he engages in outreach and dialogue efforts with civic and law enforcement groups.
In early 2010, he was invited to serve as the first Muslim chaplain for the Illinois State Police. But that invitation was
rescinded after the state Police learned more about Mustapha's ties to a Hamas-support network in the United
States. Mustapha has sued, claiming the state violated his 1st and 14th Amendment
rights. According to court documents, Kifah Mustapha was a paid employee for the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) from 1996-2000.
Other findings include:
Mustapha misrepresented his leadership role in the Islamic Association for Palestine, Hamas' U.S. propaganda arm, while testifying under oath during a 2004 deposition, according to court records and IAP documents.
Mustapha raised more than $100,000 for CAIR and another group closely tied to the radical Muslim Brotherhood - the Muslim American Society (MAS) - as recently as August 2010.
He also appeared at an April 2010 CAIR fundraiser and raised more than $240,000.
As a member of the band al-Sakhra, Mustapha performed at fundraisers for the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, which the federal government shut down in 2001 because of its ties to Hamas. In addition, Mustapha spent at least four years as a paid HLF fundraiser and was named as an unindicted conspirator in the 2008 HLF. It ended with the conviction of five foundation officials on charges they funneled millions of dollars to Hamas. Mustapha was shown in a video exhibit in the 2008 HLF trial singing "O Mother, Hamas for jihad," and calling for resisting Israel with a
"machine gun and a rifle."
He hosted a fundraiser in July 2009 for Viva Palestina, a British charity that raises money for the Hamas-run government in Gaza. Mustapha appeared at the Mosque Foundation with George Galloway, the former British Member of Parliament and Viva Palestina leader.
UPDATE 31 DEC 2012:
During the joint Muslim American Society (MAS) and ICNA 2012 annual
convention, Hamed Ghazali, Chairman of the MAS Council of Islamic Schools and professor at the Islamic American University in Michigan, told the audience in Arabic that
"Allah gave us the Jews" as the primary historical and religious example of those who "take the wrong path."
Kifah Mustafa was also a featured speaker at the 2012 convention. This convention was held in Chicago, DEC 21-25, 2012.
This activity and the web announcements strongly suggest that the Pleasant View School in Memphis
is under the direct influence
of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Case #6.
An examination of the Shelby County issued warranty deed
for the property at 1065 Stratford shows the property owner to be the North
American Islamic Trust. 1065 Stratford is the location of the "Muslim
Society of Memphis" and the Masjid as-Salaam mosque. The North American
Islamic Trust has been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land
Foundation (HLF) trial and as "entities who are and/or were members of the
U.S. Muslim Brotherhood." The HLF case was the largest terrorist financial
case to be prosecuted in the United States.
Case #7.
An examination of the Shelby County issued warranty deed for the
property at 3529
Mynders shows the property owner to be the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT).
3529 Mynders is the home of the Masjid al-Noor mosque and the Muslim Student
Association (MSA). The MSA was one of the first affiliate organizations formed
by the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood in North America is dedicated
to replacing the U.S. Constitution with Sharia'h Law (Islamic Law) and the
establishment of a world wide Caliphate. NAIT
was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF)
trial, the largest terrorist financial case to be prosecuted in the United
States.
Case #8
Carlos Bledsoe started his Islamic radicalization at the Memphis
mosque at 1065 Stratford. He continued to become more radical as he traveled to
Nashville, Columbus, OH and then to Yemen. He returned to the U.S. and settled
in Little Rock using his new Islamic name of Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad. On June
1, 2009 at 10:19 A.M. Bledsoe (aka Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad) drove his
black Ford Sport Trac to 9112 N. Rodney Parham where he gunned down two military
members of the U.S. Army Recruiting Station. Private William Long was killed and
Private Quinton Ezeagwula was critically injured.
His apartment is next to the mosque at 3529 Mynders and the home of
the Muslim Student Association.
A federal magistrate ordered Maawad, a 29-year-old University of
Memphis student from Egypt, jailed until his trial on charges of wire fraud and
fraudulent use of a Social Security number.
Maawad had been in the country illegally since 1999, and has used a
false Social Security number to enroll in schools and open a
bank account. At his trial Maawad
was sentenced to 13 months in prison for fraud and was ordered deported to
his native Egypt.
Case #10
During July of 2010, the web site of
the Masjid al-Noor, 3529 Mynders, announced an upcoming event for
July 13-15. The mosque, operated by the Islamic Association of
Greater Memphis, is the home of the Memphis Muslim Student
Association. The event that was promoted on their web site was a
visit of Mohammed al-Hanooti.
Mohammed al-Hanooti has an interesting
background:
unindicted co-conspirator in the
1993 World Trade Center bombing
unindicted co-conspirator in the
Holy Land Foundation trial (largest terrorist financial case)
raised over $6 million for Hamas
while Iman at NJ Mosque (Hamas:a declared terrorist organization)
wrote letter of reference for
Mohammed A. Salameh (renter and driver of the van used in the 93
bombing)
top official for Islamic
Association for Palestine, a Hamas front organization
former Imam (from 1995-99) of the
Dar Al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, Virginia (home of Anwar
al-Awlaki)
a member of the North American
Fiqh Council
among the top tier leadership of
the Muslim Brotherhood and a long association with Hamas (is listed
on the MB organizational chart; HLF
evidence).
According to an audiotape from a
1998 speech, Hanooti stated:
"At the moment, Dar al-Hijra is the
greatest example in sacrifice, execution and in carrying out the
Jihad that Allah calls for. Allah will give us the victory over our
tyrannical enemies in our country. Allah, the infidel Americans and
British are fighting against you. Allah, the curse of the infidel
Americans and British are fighting against you. Allah, the curse of
Allah will become true on the infidel Jews and on the tyrannical
Americans."
When the news media contacted the officials of the Masjid al-Noor, they denied any such visit was
planned and within hours, their web site was taken down.
At one point, a mosque official said it
may have been an old listing that was never removed from the calendar, although he knew of no
previous visit to Memphis by Al-Hanooti.
A screen shot of this announcement may be seen here.
Case #11
As stated on its website:
"The Jerusalem Fund for Education & Community Development (JF) is an independent, non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian organization based in Washington, D.C. Funding for operational expenses is derived from investment income. This, together with donations from private individuals throughout the U.S., supports our humanitarian grants."
A deeper look into the Jerusalem Fund web site suggests a very strong pro-HAMAS and anti-Isreali agenda. The current chairman of this organization (JF) is
Dr. Subhi Ali of Waverly, TN. Dr. Ali is the father of Samar Ali who was recently appointed to the TN Economic and Development
Board by Gov. Bill Haslam. Dr. Ali and his family have been active in political contributions both at the state and national level.
The Jerusalem Fund dates back to the early 1980's. Individuals involved with the Fund have had a series of questionable relationships during the Fund's evolution to its present operation. In examining this evolution, we find convicted terrorists like
Sami al-Arian and terrorist organizations like the
Palestinian Islamic
Jihad. Other associated organizations such as the IIIT have been linked directly to the North American Muslim Brotherhood. We also find a number of cases where members of the Jerusalem Fund Board of Directors also associate with other organizations and individuals with ties to terrorist activity. For example,
Hisham Sharabi and
George S. Hishmeh both listed as founding members of the Jerusalem Fund served on the Board of the American Committee on Jerusalem with now convicted felons such as
Abdul Rahman
al-Amoudi and Rafaat
"Rafi" Dajani.
The critical elements of these associations are as follows:
1. The Jerusalem Fund was founded by Hisham Sharabi, who served as chair until his death.
Subhi Ali was vice chair of the JF while Sharabi was serving as chair and Ali moved into the chairmanship upon the death of Sharabi.
2. Hisham Sharabi was on the Board of Trustees of W.I.S.E.
3. W.I.S.E. was founded, charted and lead by Sami al-Arian of Florida.
4. W.I.S.E. funded the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) which committed horrendous act of terrorism in Israel.
5. W.I.S.E. funneled the payments to the PIJ martyrs through the Islamic International Arab Bank (IIAB) apparently with Sharabi's knowledge.
6. IIAB was sued by victims of the PIJ martyrs, including several U.S. Citizens. Various international law enforcement agencies are also investigating this tie.
7. Upon the death of Sharabi, Dr. Subhi Ali moved from Vice chair of JF to the chairmanship, which he holds today.
8. Dr. Subhi Ali's daughter, Samar Ali, takes an intern position at IIAB during the time they are being sued. Samar Ali holds a law degree.
This critical path brings us to the question of why was Samar Ali serving as an intern at this particular bank in Jordan (IIAB). Could it have been because her father and his very close associate (Sharabi) were quite concerned about the truth being exposed about W.I.S.E. funneling pay-off money through this bank to the family of PIJ martyrs? We have no proof of this but what are the odds this is just a coincidence? Of all the banks in the world, Samar Ali ends up at the one bank being investigated for laundering money for her father's close associate's organization.
